What skills are needed for a dentist?

Good hands and dexteritynGreat scientific mind to understand what we are doing and why. We need to understand the symptoms and know what to do to eliminate those symptoms. We need to find the cause of the symptoms. We need experience. It is called a dental practice because every day we are seeing another unique patient who has similar problems to other patients we have treated. This adds to the information we have learned in dental school and continuing education by observing and following how our patients respond to the treatment we have given them. I have to know how to evaluate research to discern how reliable it is. Some manufacturers pay scientists to perform reasearch. This causes the researcher to be biased in coming up with results that cause the manufacturer paying them to look better than all the competitors products. I look for research whil comes from reliable, unbiased sources.
