If you are looking for a solution to missing teeth you have a few options such as dentures, bridges and implants. Many people find dentures and bridges to be uncomfortable for a variety of reasons, causing more and more people to turn to a more permanent and hassle-free option such as dental implants.
How does it work?
Dental implants consist of a small titanium shaft surgically implanted into the jawbone and allowed to set. Over time, the bone will begin to grow around the shaft creating a secure bond. Since the bone grows around the titanium shaft, this will slow or potentially stop the possibility of bone loss associated with missing teeth. Once the shaft is set, the new tooth is placed on top of the shaft.
What are the Benefits?
Teeth implants have benefits over the less-permanent alternatives. Unlike bridges, implants do not put stress on the surrounding teeth and require no preparation of other teeth. If the tooth wears out, another can be made and replaced. Bridges and dentures require a bit of an adjustment period due to bulky supports or denture movement. Implants immediately feel like regular teeth when eating and talking.
